Back from Gatlinburg and time to continue with the Junior Coaching. This week I want to look at responder’s rebids. Most books/lessons give detailed instructions for the first three bids in an auction. By the time we get to responder’s second bid, definitions can become fuzzy. Look at the following auctions and decide if South’s last bid is F(orcing), I(nvitational), C(ompetitive) or W(eak).
1)
West North East South

Pass 1
Pass 1
Pass 3
Playing in the scond round of the Knock-outs you pick up as South:

This week’s Wednesday night pair game was replaced by a Swiss qualifier for the Grand National Teams. If you have never played in the GNT’s I suggest you give it a try. It is a grass roots event that starts at the club level. Qualifiers are invited to play in a District wide tournament that qualifies 1 team from each stratum to represent our district at the nationals.
I picked up a nice hand:
AKJT45
K62
