2 Way Checkback after a 1 NT rebid:

Instead of new minor, you might try this convention.

After   1 x       1 y

          1 NT    2 Club

2 Club forces 2 Diamond which responder can pass or make an invitational bid in any suit or NT

            1 x       1 y

            1 NT    2 Diamond

2 Diamond is game forcing and artificial

            1 x       1 y

            1 NT    2 NT

2 NT is a relay to 3 Club and is the way to sign off in clubs

Immediate 3 level bids over 1 NT are strong and forcing, with some slam interest.
